My name is Valerie Harney. I am an International All Breed Judge and the Secretary of the Queensland Feline Association Inc. I have been breeding cats since 1970 and judging since 1975. I began breeding Siamese Seal Point and Brown Burmese and now specialise in Siamese Seal Points, Blue Points and Oriental Chocolate and Silver Spotted. I have judged in England, Europe, Malaysia and New Zealand and have met many interesting people and shared my love of cats with many people from all over the world. My breeding programme has been limited because of my ongoing judging commitments.
Meisha Cattery is located on the northside of Brisbane, in Queensland. It has been established since 1970 when I started breeding Siamese, Burmese and later Orientals. Meisha has the proud distinction of having bred "Broadacres Matahari" a seal spotted Oriental, Supreme exhibit of Darwin ACF show and also many other successes. I hope to turn to Siamese Blue Point breeding in the future.
My stud is Gold Double Grand Champion Meisha Galaxy Blue a blue point Siamese. My queens are black smoke and seal silver spotted Orientals.
I personally love the svelte long bodies and brilliant blue eyes of the Siamese against the self coated Orientals with the brilliant green eyes. The Siamese is easily recognisable by its distinctive colouring. The points come in a variety of colours. Siamese are a very intelligent, lively, entertaining cat. They can be very demanding and become totally involved in their owner's life. Siamese do not like to be ignored and always have to be the centre of attention. They usually regard themselves as people rather than cats. They have a strong personality and are usually very talkative, often with a loud voice. They frequently shout at their owners. They are extremely affectionate and make a wonderful, entertaining and totally dominating pets. The Oriental is a cousin of the the Siamese. Personality wise they resemble the Siamese. They come in a large range of colours and coat patterns.Orientals are sleek and almost ornamental in appearance. They may demand a lot of attention and can be very talkative with an extroverted personality. They are highly intelligent, agile and have inquisitive natures. They will give total devotion and make wonderful pets.
